AFTAU hosted its annual Short Film Night on 1st December 2024, where we had the privilege of showcasing three thought-provoking films created by talented students from the esteemed Steve Tisch School of Film and Television at Tel Aviv University. It was inspiring to witness the exceptional quality and creativity emerging from these young filmmakers.

Things I remember from Summer 2004
Director: Bat-Saar Raviv

As reports of terrorist attacks stream in, 9-year-old Ya’ara sets out on a road-trip with her family. The year is 2004, the First Intifada. In this mysterious coming-of-age film, a family gets stuck on the edge of a cliff
and tries to stick together despite the sense of dread in the air.

On Tracks
Director: Itai Kerem, Roni Vainer

Three years after their military service together, three friends unite for a night out in Tel Aviv. On their way to the club, their drug-filled bag gets stolen. They recruit a young Sudanese refugee to help them to
search through Tel Aviv’s African immigrant society.

Help I want to die
Director: Dana Weil

In this black comedy, after another suicide attempt, depressed Simcha wakes up in her childhood bedroom.
During 48 hours of family supervision, after which she is to be committed, Simcha tries to find other ways to kill herself while her family members race against the clock to find her something else.
